Welcome to the Official Osfest Blog!

Lots of people have been asking, "Hey, what's going on with Osfest?" So we're going to be putting out a regular blog to keep you updated on guests, events and activities. Since this is the first installment, we'll start with the basics:

  Date & Location

We will be returning to the Ramada Plaza, 72nd & Grover, for the weekend of July 31-Aug. 2, 2015. The room rate is $84 a night before May 31. Call 402-393-3950 for reservations, and be sure to mention you're with OSFest to get the convention rate. Any problems, email hotel@osfest.org.

Pre-registration price right now is $30 for a three-day pass and can be purchased on the Osfest web site.  This price goes up to $40 on March 1st, so act now! You can pay with PayPal, BitCoin or BlackCoin.

  Guests

This year, we're reaching into the deep pool of Nebraska talent for our Guests of Honor. Bios should be up on the website soon, but for now here's the list:

Author GoH Matthew Rotundo

If you've been to OSFest before, you've seen him, he's been an attending author from the beginning. (If it was after hours, he was probably singing karaoke! Here's his rendition of Eminem's "Without Me" from last year.)

Artist GoH Arden Ellen Nixon

A Lincoln artist who has shown work in our art show since OSFest 1, we've seen her work evolve over the last few years, and can't wait to see what she brings to OSFest 8! Check out her gallery at her webpage here.

Fan GoH Jeff Schipman

Everyone in the local fan community (especially the Star Wars fandom) knows Jeff, mostly for his work with the Rebel Legion/501st, and of course, as R2-TD's human partner.

This year, OSFest 8 will also welcome Media GoH Dr. Sanguinary - more on that later!

Finally, for all you gaming fans, our friends at PretzCon will be returning to run the game room.

Last year's open-concept Great Hall with vendors, art show, fan tables and main stage entertainment got almost 100% positive feedback, so we're doing it again. If you've got suggestions for main stage acts you'd like to see, let us know and we'll see what we can do to get 'em.

Ever wanted to help plan a convention? OSFest would love to have more staff. Planning meetings are 4-6 p.m. the second Sunday of each month at the Ramada Plaza - the room varies, so send a Facebook message to Omaha's Osfest for the exact location.

See you next month with more news and updates!
